Terms of service

Last updated October 1, 2026

These terms are an agreement between you and Copyhound (“we”) about your use of Copyhound (the “service”). By creating an account you accept them.

What the service does

Copyhound searches the web for pages that may contain copies of the work you ask it to protect, shows you why each page was flagged, and drafts removal notices for you to send. It does not send notices for you, and it does not remove anything itself.

We are not a law firm and the service is not legal advice. A score is an estimate, never a finding that a page infringes anyone’s rights. You decide what is a copy and what to do about it. If someone disputes a notice you sent, speak to a lawyer before you reply.

Your account

You must give us accurate information and keep your password private. You are responsible for what happens in your account. If you create an account for a company, you confirm that you may bind it to these terms.

Your work and your notices

What you put into the service stays yours. You give us permission to store and process it only to run the service for you.

You may only ask us to protect work that you own, or that you are authorized to act for. A removal notice is a statement made by you, in your name, under penalty of perjury. You are responsible for reading each notice before you send it and for its being true. Sending a notice about a page you know is not a copy of your work can make you liable to the person you sent it to.

Acceptable use

Do not use the service to break the law, to harass anyone, to take down criticism, reviews or other lawful uses of your work, or to try to reach data that is not yours. Do not attempt to disrupt the service or get around its limits. We may suspend accounts that do.

Price

The service is free while it is in early access. We may introduce paid plans. We will tell you before anything changes for you, and you will never be charged without choosing a plan.

Availability and changes

We work to keep the service running and your data safe, but we provide it “as is”, without warranties of any kind. We do not promise that it will find every copy of your work, that every page it flags is a copy, or that any notice will lead to a removal. We may change or stop parts of the service, and will tell you in advance about changes that affect you significantly.

Liability

To the extent the law allows, we are not liable for indirect or consequential losses, including losses from a notice you sent, and our total liability is limited to what you paid us in the twelve months before the claim.

Ending

You can close your account at any time by writing to us. We may end these terms if you break them. When your account is closed we delete your data, except what the law requires us to keep.

Changes to these terms

We may update these terms. If a change matters, we will tell you before it applies. Using the service after that means you accept the new terms.
