Privacy policy
Last updated October 1, 2026
This policy explains what Copyhound (“we”) collects when you use Copyhound, why, and the choices you have.
What we collect
- Your account: your name, your email address, and your password in a form we cannot read. If you sign in with Google, we receive your name and email address from Google.
- Your products: what you tell us about the work you want protected, such as its title, description, cover image, sales page, the names of its lessons or chapters, and the websites allowed to sell it.
- Your notice details: the legal name, postal address and phone number you add in settings. They are used for one thing: to fill in the removal notices that you choose to send.
- What we find: the public web pages our searches turn up for your products, how each was scored and why, and what you decided about it.
- Your removal requests: the notices we draft for you and what you tell us happened to them.
- Technical data: the address and browser of each request, kept in our logs to keep the service secure and working.
Why we use it
To search for copies of your work, to show you what we found and why, to draft removal notices for you, to send you the emails the service needs (such as verification links and alerts), to keep the service secure, and to answer you when you write to us. We do not sell your data, and we do not use it for advertising.
We never send a removal notice on your behalf. A notice only reaches someone else when you send it yourself, and it then carries the details you put in it.
Who we share it with
Only the companies that help us run the service, and only what each needs:
- Hosting (Railway), which stores the data.
- Email (Mailgun), which delivers the emails we send you.
- Search (Serper, for Google’s results, and Brave Search). To look for copies we send them searches made of your product’s title, your creator name and the names of what is inside it. Your account details are not part of a search.
- AI (a language model reached through Vercel’s AI Gateway). To judge a page we send the model your product’s details and the text of the public page we found. Your email address and your notice details are not sent.
- Google, if you choose to sign in with it.
To find where a notice should go, we look up public records about the website concerned. We share data with authorities only when the law requires it.
Pages we read
We read public web pages to see whether they contain your work. We keep the address, title and a short extract of pages we show you, and our reasons for the score. Some of those pages name other people. We use that information only to help you decide whether the page is a copy.
How long we keep it
As long as your account is open. When you delete a product, what we found for it and its removal history are deleted with it. When your account is closed we delete your data, except what the law requires us to keep.
Your rights
You can see and change your details in your settings. To close your account, to ask for a copy of your data, or for anything else about it, write to us.
Cookies
We use one cookie, to keep you signed in. Your choice of light or dark theme is remembered in your browser. We use no advertising or tracking cookies.
Changes
If we change this policy in a way that matters, we will tell you before it applies.
